A prospective buyer should be prepared to complete a "Puppy Application", to help confirm that a puppy will be going to a responsible and healthy environment.

Bear Creek Dachshunds Customer Pet Contract

Registration: AKC LIMITED (PET)

  • To secure a puppy, a non-refundable deposit of a $500 must be made. The deposit will only be accepted after the whelping and not before. This goes towards the total balance of  the puppy, in which the remainder is due at the time of pickup. Payment can be made by

check (deposit only), Venmo, Cash App, or Apple Pay. Cash can be paid for the balance in person at the time of puppy pickup. Deposits are only refundable if the puppy is deemed not healthy enough to be placed in a new home; no exceptions will be made.

  • Our Guarantee:

We guarantee this puppy is in good health, to the best of our knowledge, at the time of sale. A licensed veterinarian has checked the puppy and issued a health certificate prior to leaving the breeder/seller’s possession, verifying the health of the said puppy. This canine is purebred with AKC-registered parents and embodies the characteristics of the breed named above. Bear Creek Dachshunds goes to great lengths to produce healthy, sound puppies. Puppies bred here carry a one-year, from the time of birth, health guarantee

against any life-threatening genetic defects. The puppy will have age-appropriate vaccinations and dewormings before going home.

  • BUYERS RESPONSIBILITY:

The buyer must take the puppy to a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours of purchase. In addition, owning a puppy means occasional trips to the vet, which you, the buyer, are responsible for all costs. It is up to you to provide your puppy with the routine preventative care it needs. Annual examinations by a vet and following your veterinarian’s guidelines for vaccinations and deworming are the sole responsibility of the buyer. WE DO NOT pay for vet visits.

Buyer agrees to continue the vaccination schedule with their vet through the 16-20 week initial vaccination schedule. It is important that you continue the vaccinations and deworming. Buyer agrees to not expose said puppy to other dogs that are not vaccinated until he/she has completed the entire vaccination schedule - around 16-20 weeks old and will not take them to possible contaminated areas. This includes doggy daycares, dog parks (which we do not personally recommend at all) and being mindful when you are

visiting the vet to not set the puppy down in high traffic areas.

Buyer agrees to provide puppy with routine preventative care, follow vet guidelines on worming, vaccinations, neutering/spaying and proper housing. If the Buyer decides that they can no longer keep and care for the puppy, the puppy should be returned at once to

the Seller free of charge. Buyer also agrees that puppies are sold with limited registration (non-breeding rights). While the puppy may be capable of performing other functions, no warranty will be given as to its fitness for any other purpose than as a pet.

  • HEALTH GUARANTEE:

During the transition period of changing homes/environments puppies can become stressed. Minor problems such as diarrhea, coccidia, upper respiratory, giardia, kennel cough, etc. may occur and must be treated. We also do not guarantee Parvo, distemper,

etc. We are incredibly careful and guarantee that no puppy has been exposed. These conditions are the responsibility of the buyer, not the seller, and should be checked by a veterinarian. These and other minor health issues are not covered by the seller. If a genetic health issue arises, we ask to be notified and will need full documentation from

your licensed veterinarian. If death occurs during the health guarantee period, the breeder requires a necropsy for verification of the cause of death by a licensed veterinarian at the buyer’s expense. If the current owner REFUSES a necropsy, no replacement puppy will be granted regardless of the diagnosis. A necropsy MUST be completed to confirm the cause of death. At our discretion, we will offer a puppy of equal value when available. Of course, this is a worst-case scenario and does not happen often. We do not guarantee CDA as this is something that really cannot be predicted. We are working hard to ensure our dilute lines are CDA-free, but there is always a chance of it.

Please remember that a puppy is susceptible to disease until all vaccinations have been administered.

No guarantee is made as to the disposition, conformation, color, size, or breeding ability of our puppies/dogs. It is impossible to accurately determine the EXACT adult size or color of any puppy. Size and color estimates are based on both parents. The breeder makes no guarantees or warranties, express or implied, regarding the puppy's size or color or conformation. We do not guarantee you will be able to show the dog. No cash refund will be given under any circumstances: only replacement puppies will be given if necessary - per this contract, as long as Bear Creek Dachshunds is still breeding.

  • Although most of our pups are placed as pets, we do ask that you hold off on pediatric spay/neuter. We really prefer that these surgeries be performed after 12 months of age because your puppy needs their hormones to grow properly. There is no evidence that spaying/neutering changes the puppy’s disposition for the better nor does it correct normal puppy behavior. When done too early, it can cause growth problems and affect joints. Spaying/neutering before 12 months of age will void the health guarantee.

If for any reason you are not able to keep the puppy, please call us:
